'In Conversation with Dr Judith Bek' (University of Manchester, UK)
The final speaker in the 2020-21 Guest Lecture Series was Dr Judith Bek, a research psychologist interested in the relationships between perception, thought and movement. Her research aims to understand how movement is influenced by observing other people’s actions and by using imagery, as well as how this might be affected by ageing and Parkinson’s disease. She is also interested in how action observation and imagery can be used to help improve movement in everyday life, and she has been working collaboratively with health professionals, dance organisations and people living with Parkinson’s, to explore the potential application of these processes through activities such as dance.
