How Solar Sister Entrepreneurs Find Economic Empowerment While Fighting Energy Poverty
More than 600 million people in sub-Saharan Africa live without electricity and over 700 million depend on harmful fuels for cooking. This disproportionately affects women, leading to health issues and negatively affecting educational opportunities and income generation for them and their families. Solar Sister, a Cisco nonprofit partner, invests in female entrepreneurs in sub-Saharan Africa to help them lift themselves and their communities out of poverty.
