Ghalia Benali & Moufadhel Adhoum – Umm Kulthum: El Atlal – Concertgebouw Sessions

El Atlal is an Egyptian poem by Ibrahim Nagi and became a famous song by Umm Kulthum.
Performed by Ghalia Benali and ud player Moufadhel Adhoum in the Concertgebouw Sessions. It is about a desert traveler who comes across the campsite of a former lover and uses the objects as steppingstones for his memory.

The rich Arab culture of the past and present will be celebrated in The Concertgebouw at SOUK on June 9 and 10. We connect Arab and Western culture with music, food, and dance.
Ghalia Benali and Moufadhel Adhoum play music by the legendary Umm Kulthum with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and conductor Jochen Neuffer.
