DIY Halloween 'Phantom of the Opera' Make-up Tutorial – Dutch National Opera & Ballet

This Halloween make-up tutorial is inspired by The Phantom of The Opera and developed by our wigs and make-up department. SUBSCRIBE to our channel for new video’s every week: http://bit.ly/YoutubeNOB
You can find a step-by-step explanation of the tutorial in this description below.

Step 1: Bald cap
1. Moisten your hair and comb it back. If you have longer hair you tie it up with flat bobby pins.
2. Put the bald cap over the head and fold it twice. Now you can degrease the forehead with alcohol.
3. Put the mastix (a natural glue made from tree resin) on the skin and attach it to the bald head. You can do the same with the sides and back of the head.
4. Use pax (mixture of make-up glue and acrylic paint) over the edge of the hair.
Step 2: Bald head colouring
5. Colour in the bald cap with a light red colour and use a skin colour to cover the hair underneath.
6. Last step is powdering off the head cap
Step 3: The wound effect
7. Add a layer of latex on the face where you want the wound. If you do not have latex you can use lash glue.
8. Pull loose cotton wool or tissues apart and place them over the face. Then add another layer of latex. Above all, do not do this too neatly.
9. Cover it up with red make-up and use black to create more depth. Also use red and blue make-up around the eye.
10. As an extra effect you can use fake blood. Apply the wet substance with your fingers and pat it on the head to spread.
Step 4: Spooky makeup other side of the head
11. Use a light foundation for the other side of the head
12. Make the eyebrows and beard darker with a dark brown or black colour for a pronounced Halloween look. Use these colours also around the eye.
13. To complete the look, grab a white mask, put on a wig and wear a tuxedo.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! 🎃👻
