Build a Real Robot – Episode 1 – Project Introduction
Today I will introduce you to the “DB1”, a “Real Robot” project that is built with components that you can easily obtain. You can build the exact same robot or use these videos and articles to create one of your own design.

This is the first video in a series of videos that will outline the design, construction, programming, and testing of a “real robot”. Unlike the small “robot car” chassis that I have used in many other videos, this is a full-sized robot that, when finished, will have some impressive capabilities.
I’m calling this robot “DB1”, as it’s the first of a series of intelligent, full-sized robots that I’m planning to construct. I’m sure we can come up with a better name for it as it evolves!
The robot is being designed and built in sections or “layers”, and each layer is capable of acting independently. So if you only want to build the base (navigation) layer, for example, you can build it and run it by itself.
This is a BIG project, actually a HUGE project, and it will take several months to finish it. I’ll be documenting my progress every Thursday here on YouTube and in an accompanying article on the DroneBot Workshop website at https://dronebotworkshop.com.
For those of you interested in building a similar or identical robot I will have information soon about getting detailed plans.
I hope you enjoy the video and I look forward to hearing your comments and seeing you every Thursday for a new installment of this series!
